Day in The Loft
Here's a typical Sunday spent doing frivolous things with the artifacts from yesteryear. This particular Sunday was 5th June 2005 just for the record. Not a bad day here in Wales, not nice enough for cycling though...
DTP - circa 1986
Okay, well first up for the day was a project that came about due to a donation from a friend and ex-work colleague. Back in the eighties I was working for another local printer and sometimes saw this particular system in use. At the time it was high end kit and I marvelled at the quality of the display and hardcopy. Aaah the smell of the inks, the feel of the paper... yeah, well you get the drift.
This system was either called Cali or this is a company name, I'm guessing that they were systems integrators as the stuff is all off the shelf with (fairly fancy) stickers stuck all over it.
TThe system itself died a death back in the misty 90's. But luckily he'd kept the internal cards and most importantly, the display. So what we're looking at here is:
A 15" Micro Display Systems 460 Full Page Display - YAY!
2 x JLaser Boards - Errm... WTF
1 x GMC Graphics card - Whoah la! We are not worthy...
A BIG Laser printer (make unknown, contemporary with Cheops)
take me to more of this nonsense...
